Purpose-Driven

Purpose is what gives life meaning; it is the reasoning behind any existence. Having purpose drives you towards that finishing line and causes you to exert yourself to reach that goal. Someone may never accomplish anything without knowing why he or she is doing this action or what goal one wants to achieve. Life without purpose means no motivation, no will, no dreams, nothing. It can hone your focus and give strength to the belief that you can overcome any obstacle.

A purpose can be as small as putting one foot in front of the other or as grandiose as inventing the cure for cancer. It tailors your behavior, perspective, and mentality as to why are you doing this and to what end will you continue. Every action you take or thought you contemplate has a purpose in context. Science fairs will ask you the purpose of this experiment; the experiment has to prove or disprove a hypothesis. Any organization, book, speech, or business has a mission and values behind that mission; the sole reason they were created and developed originally is their purpose.

Even as a child, I’ll spend some moments to ponder an option and choose what to do next. Once a decision is made, I saw it to the end and had to accomplish that goal. Ever since I determined what I wanted to become in third grade, I have steered my path in life based on my purpose. I have studied certain courses, attended specific events, and refined particular skills in order to situate myself in the optimal place.

The purpose of living for me is to somehow improve my community in a vital way and impact it by at least bettering the life of one person. I am finding my path to leave my mark on history. If I can educate, defend, or change at least one person, then I have at least started that momentum. After all, it all starts with one person. This purpose provides me daily motivation and shifts my focus on aspects that I need to develop.

The law and rule-making system is how I will realize my purpose and bring about the changes I envisioned. The law and statutes define the tone for what behaviors and actions are acceptable, determine the course of a nation, ensure the security and protection of individual’s rights, and frame societal norms for the future. It is no wonder why I believe that I will make the strongest impression through the justice system.

A purpose makes you feel alive and substantial. Without one, what exactly are you living for? There is no simple, concrete answer to how a purpose affects your quality of life, but the effect of having and knowing your purpose is insurmountable. This is a question that every individual needs to discover for himself/herself. And once he or she does, it is up to that person to fulfill that purpose.
